How to play Cynical Cards with friends

Create a room, choose decks, invite friends and play your first round of Cynical Cards online. A practical guide for a browser game night.

The idea fits in one sentence: choose an answer that makes the judge laugh. Here is how to bring everyone into the same room, pick themes and start the first round.

1. Gather your friends and sign in

You need 3–10 players aged 18 or over. Each person opens bon.cards in a phone or desktop browser and signs in to their own account. No app installation is needed. New players can choose “Sign up” and complete the form; available sign-in methods appear in the authentication window.

Play together in one room or from different cities. A voice call in your usual messenger makes remote games more sociable. The game chat is useful for quick comments, but does not replace a voice conversation.

2. Check the interface and card languages

The RU/EN selector changes the website interface. Your Profile has a separate card-language setting: check it and save your preferences before playing. Players can read translations of the same cards in their preferred language.

Agree on a shared conversation language and suitable decks for your first game. The judge needs to understand each answer, especially in a multilingual group.

3. Create a room and choose decks

On the Play tab, select “Create room”. Choose the answer and judging time limits and who can see submitted cards. For a first game, start with the form defaults and the main deck. Required decks are already selected and cannot be unchecked.

Scroll down the form to the room name, optional password and winning score. Set a password for a private group and share it separately with your friends. An invitation link does not bypass the password. Finish by pressing “Create room”.

4. Invite friends and start the game

Inside the room, press “Invite friends”. Depending on your browser, the site opens a share dialog, copies the link or displays it in a text field. Send the link to your friends. Each player signs in to their own account and enters the room password if required.

Once at least three players have joined, the room owner can start the game. If you do not have a group yet, try the game search on the homepage to find an open room.

5. Submit your first answer

Read the question card and check how many cards you need to choose. Tap suitable cards in “Your hand”, then press “Send answer”. If the question requires several cards, check their order: it changes the resulting phrase.

The judge does not submit an answer that round. Their hand remains readable, but cannot be selected. Once answers are in, the judge chooses the funniest one. Its author earns a point, and play continues until someone reaches the winning score.

A sound card plays for you when selected. If that answer wins, participants with sound enabled can hear it. If it stays silent, check the game sound settings, device volume and whether the browser tab is allowed to play audio.

6. Playing on a phone or computer

On a phone, your hand uses two columns. Scroll to read more cards; the answer button is in the bottom control bar. Use the bottom navigation to return to the table. Submitted answers are accessible by ordinary scrolling.

On a computer, the question and players are on the left, the table and your hand occupy the main area, and chat sits on the right. Read the question, then choose from your own hand. Cards on the table belong to the current round.
